Timothy Bradley: I Don’t Need A Knockout To Win Against Manny Pacquiao

Timothy Bradley is convinced that he doesn’t need a knockout against Manny Pacquiao to get a definite result, similar to what Juan Manuel Marquez did when he stopped Pacquiao in their fourth showdown in December 2012.
Bradley, who will face Pacquiao in a rematch on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, pointed out that Marquez was in a different situation in his fourth showdown with the Filipino boxing icon.
Bradley pointed out that Marquez failed to defeat Pacquiao in their first three showdowns, which was the reason why he had no choice but to score a knockout.
“Marquez was in a little bit of a bigger hole when he knocked him out. He had fought him three times and was not able to secure a win in any of the first three fights. He had tried everything and had failed so a knockout was the only way he would win,” Bradley said.
Bradley scored a split decision win against Pacquiao in their first showdown, but the undefeated American did not get the credit he believes he deservedas the decision was highly criticized by most boxing experts.
While he is itching to prove that his first win was no fluke, he said that his current situation is different from Marquez’s situation before the Mexican boxing icon’s fourth showdown with Pacquiao.
“I am in a slight different position than Marquez was,” Bradley said. “I have already beat Pacquiao once and that was on my first try. I don’t think I have to knock him out to get a definite result but if the knockout presents itself I will take advantage of it.”
Bradley, who successfully defended his WBO welterweight title against Ruslan Provodnikov and Marquez last year, is confident that he can win convincingly against the former pound-for-pound king in their upcoming rematch.
“I will be faster than Pacquiao, I will have better defense than Pacquiao, I will be hungrier than Pacquiao,” Bradley declared. “I have been in the ring with Pacquiao so I know exactly what to expect. There are a few adjustments that I will make and with two good feet under me and at the end of the night I will be victorious again.”

Kostya Tszyu Believes Manny Pacquiao Lost Hunger, But Will Regain Old Form In Rematch With Timothy Bradley

Former boxing champion Kostya Tszyu echoed the statement of Timothy Bradley, saying that Manny Pacquiao really lost his hunger based on his previous fights.
In an interview with On The Ropes Boxing Radio, Tszyu boldly said that Pacquiao is not the same fighter as he was before, saying that a fighter cannot be on top of his game if he has no hunger.
“I agree with what Timothy said, that Manny Pacquiao is not hungry anymore,” Tszyu said. “You can’t be on top of your game if you’re not hungry anymore. I lost my hunger in the last couple of weeks of my fights because when you achieve everything in sports, it’s so hard to push yourself over and over the limit.”
Tszyu added that Pacquiao can also regain his old form in his rematch with Timothy Bradley on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The Boxing Hall of Fame inductee said that Pacquiao’s loss in his first showdown with Bradley could lit the fire inside him again. Bradley escaped with a controversial split decision win over Pacquiao in their WBO welterweight title showdown in June 2012 – a decision that was highly scrutinized by boxing experts.
“Manny did tremendous, became a legend in the ring, but he lost a bit of hunger. Maybe the loss against Timothy may help him to find his hunger, maybe, you never know. Timothy is still a young fighter and still got lots of goals ahead of him and for Manny there’s just one thing, to prove that he’s the best, only one,” Tszyu added.
And when asked about his thoughts about the upcoming Pacquiao-Bradley rematch, Tszyu said that it could go either way, depending on who can handle the pressure better.
Tszyu pointed out, though, that Pacquiao will have a walk in the park if he can forget about his previous knockout loss to rival Juan Manuel Marquez, and if Bradley commits mistake in their rematch.
“I still think if Timothy can make some mistakes, like he did against Provodnikov — try to brawl against the fighter that can brawl — he can lose. For Manny, he has to take a very good game plan and should forget the knockout he had and then he can be successful again,” Tszyu stressed.

Manny Pacquiao Wants A Knockout, But Vows Not To Get Reckless In Timothy Bradley Rematch

Manny Pacquiao is still convinced that he clearly won in his first showdown with Timothy Bradley, and the former pound-for-pound king vowed to settle the score in their rematch.
Pacquiao, who will face Bradley in a rematch on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, vowed to make the undefeated American pay for saying that he has lost his hunger and killer instinct.
The Filipino boxing icon said that Bradley seemed to have lit the fire in him again, saying that, on fight night, Bradley will face the same fighter who defeated boxing greats like Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Erik Morales, and Marco Antonio Barrera.
“I have all the respect for Bradley and what he has accomplished but I have no fear of him,” Pacquiao said, via BoxingScene. “He has inspired me to exceed my previous performances inside the ring. If Bradley wants to meet the fighter who stopped Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera, he’s going to get his wish on Saturday.”
Pacquiao is being criticized for being too compassionate in his previous fights, particularly in his last bout against Brandon Rios. The 35-year-old champion looked poise to score a knockout against Rios, but Pacquiao opted not to go for the kill, and run away with a decision win instead.
But while he is looking to stop Bradley in their rematch, Pacquiao, who has not scored a knockout win since his stoppage win against Miguel Cotto in 2009, vowed not to get reckless.
Pacquiao said that he won’t force a knockout to avoid suffering the same fate that he had during his fourth showdown with rival Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012 in which he absorbed a devastating sixth-round knockout loss.
“The one thing I learned from my fight against Marquez was patience,” Pacquiao said. “When I had him teetering I became reckless and went in to finish him. I was careless and he landed the perfect punch. That was learning a lesson the hard way. But I learned it.”
